We always do it with a professional crew and quote it case by case, because it depends on the weather window, the boat's range and crew logistics. Navigation

What the passage from the mainland is like

It is the longest and most exposed passage we do, so it is planned with more margin.

Between the mainland coast and the Balearics there is no shelter. On routes from Catalonia, the tramontana and the mistral set the window; from Valencia, Dénia or Alicante, mainly easterlies. The skipper sets the date with official forecasts and, if it is not safe, we wait.

At 18 knots, Barcelona → Palma fits into a day of daylight. Displacement boats need 15 hours or more: we plan it with night sailing and watches, or with a stop, depending on the boat and the crew.

Range. Before accepting the delivery we calculate actual consumption at cruising speed and compare it with the tank. If there is not a comfortable reserve, we plan a refuelling stop.

Crew. Always professional and licensed. On long or overnight passages we recommend a skipper and a deckhand, plus a marine engineer if the boat has been laid up or is coming out of refit.
